Local Hugh Mangum expert David Page will talk about the Durham native and itinerant photographer who practiced his art in the late 1800s-early 1900s in NC and Virginia. According to the Eno River Association website, "Mangum was a singular and talented person with a sense of humor and design, and a fascination for the eccentric and bizarre, for gypsies and the burlesque, for photographic props and extraordinary hats." Glass negatives of Mangum's work are held at the Archive of Documentary Arts at Duke University's Special Collections Library. Hundreds of the images have been digitized and are available online at the Duke University Libraries' website.
