Duke University Libraries and the
Southern Folklife Collection at UNC Libraries are pleased to present
Marty Grosz, legendary jazz guitarist, for a number of joint events April 11-14.
Grosz will be at Duke and UNC to perform, talk about his music, and field questions about his equally famous father, the expressionist painter George Grosz. In addition to being an acoustic jazz guitarist, Grosz is a renowned vocalist and raconteur. He has performed with many jazz greats and made guest appearances on NPR's
A Prairie Home Companion and
Fresh Air, NBC's
Today Show, and many other venues. A world-class solo performer, Grosz's performances emphasize the early development of jazz as popular music accessible to modern audiences.
