Off-campus access to most library databases and e-journals is available only to current Duke students, faculty, and staff. Those patrons may one of the following methods to access these resources from off-campus:
When accessing off-campus via the internet: When challenged for a Net ID and password, type in your current Duke NetID and password to access the resource. For example, if you are off campus and clicking through from a Duke libraries search to read a journal article or an eBook you must provide a current Duke NetID and password.
Note: A small number of Duke's electronic resources are not currently available from off campus, such as our Bloomberg Terminal or are restricted by license agreements to a subset of Duke factuly, students and staff, such as those at Duke's Law School. Please contact Duke Libraries regarding electronic access.
When accessing your desktop remotely: Download and install the current version of the Duke Virtual Private Network (VPN).
Upon signing in, it is necessary to select 'Library Resources Only' from the 'Department' drop down menu to get access to the libraries electronic resources when using the VPN. Selecting 'Library Resources Only' looks like this:
