Journal literature

To search all journals published by the American Chemical Society: http://pubs.acs.org/journals/query/subscriberSearch.jsp

  1. Choose "search journals" box.
  2. Change "Author" to "Anywhere in Article" search.
  3. Type in your search term. Click the "Enter" box
  4. Once you choose an article, choose the PDF format. Don't just pick the first article - be different! Make it fun for those of us grading!

Searching the library catalog

  • To get better results, do a "Title begins with…" search instead of a "Keyword" search.
  • Use the "Subject" links in a record to narrow your search.
  • If you are not finding a book on your chemical in the library - use some information from the definition of your chemical to find a book - ie. - is it a reagent? A salt? An explosive? Some other thing? Then look up a book on that thing and go find it in the library, then look in the index for your chemical.
