This collection includes the full text of non-serial items (books, pamphlets and broadsides) printed between 1639 and 1800 in the United States.

The National Index of American Imprints through 1800; the Short-Title Evans, a 2 volume set located in the Reference Department and the Newspapers and Microforms Department (R015.73 E92c), is indispensable for access to the microfiche series.  The Evans numbers are not included in the microforms card catalog, located at the rear of the first floor of Bostock Library.

The National Index of American Imprints through 1800; the Short-Title Evans is arranged alphabetically by author and anonymous titles.  The index entries include bibliographical data, location symbols of the specific copy photocopied for the microprint series and the Evans number.  The Evans number, located in the lower right hand corner of each entry in the index, corresponds with the Evans numbers on the Readex microfiche boxes.

The microfiche are located in the microfiche cabinets on the first floor of Bostock Library.  They are arranged in the microfiche cabinets in consecutive order by Evans numbers.
