Foreign Historical Statistics

Foreign Historical Statistics are often arranged geographically (by country or region) or thematically (by subject). For ease of use with this subject guide, statistics that cross multiple geographic regions are separated from statistics organized geographically and are categorized under the heading "Worldwide Statistics."
*Note: The richest sources of statistics appear after World War II as the importance of in-depth record keeping grew.

Choose a Region

Foreign Historical Statistics for most individual countries are not listed in this guide. To search for statistical data for a particular nation, see the Search Tips below for more assistance.

Search Tips

Perkins Library has many books that contain foreign historical statistics, perform a keyword search in the online catalog for "statistic* AND europe", as in this example:

Search Type Keyword, search for statistic* and europe

For geographical-based statistics, perform a subject search of the online catalog for "[country name or region] -- statistics."  For example:

Search type: Subject begins with . . . Search for: cuba-statistics
