No longer accessible online; scholars must visit the Institute of Social Science, University of Tokyo. It holds 87,000 articles from the Asahi Shinbun newspaper. Coverage is from 1922 to 1997. Articles were selected with particular reference to government, politics, and political parties. Articles filed under individual people go back to before the Second World War; articles filed under events start after the war. Online index available at the shaken.
