Omni Resources: Large dealer in Burlington, North Carolina, USA, at 1004 Mebane St.(about 30 miles west of Durham). Has all sorts of U.S. and foreign maps. Can order online or visit them 8 to 5 Monday through Friday. Phone number is 336-227-8300. Omni Resources location map
Bookstores: Many local bookstores carry a good selection of maps, especially fold-up travel maps. Also, some outdoor gear shops stock maps of interest to hikers and other outdoor enthusiasts.

In the United States, MapLink and Omni Resources (listed imeediately below) provide the widest variety of maps.
Many of the publishers listed in the following section also sell their maps directly to consumers.


MapLink: Large dealer in Santa Barbara, California, with many U.S. and foreign maps, both fold-up travel maps as well as series of topographic and geologic maps from countries worldwide.
Omni Resources: Large dealer in Burlington, North Carolina, with many U.S. and foreign maps, especially many series of topographic and geologic maps from countries worldwide. Extensive online catalog with many quadrangle indexes and sample images from maps.
East View Publications, Inc.: Specializes in publications—including maps—from the former Soviet republics. Some of these Soviet or Russian map series cover all areas of the world.
Four One Co., Ltd.: Large dealer in London, Ontario, with many maps from around the world.
Globe Corner Bookstore: Emphasizing maps and books for travel.
GeoCenter ILH (Internationales Landkartenhaus GmbH): Large vendor in Stuttgart, Germany. The web site provides information about their paper catalog GeoKatalog 2, which is a relatively complete listing of in-print "scientific" maps from throughout the world (topographic, geologic, and other topical maps), including graphic quadrangle indexes.
Gone Tomorrow: Dealer specializing in Latin American travel maps, but also with coverage of the rest of the world. Their wholesale division is Treaty Oak.
Heritage Map Museum: A dealer in antiquarian maps.
World of Maps: Dealer in Ottawa, Ontario, with maps from the whole world, with a special emphasis on Canada. Not to be confused with A World of Maps in Tampa, Florida.
A World of Maps: Dealer in Tampa, Florida, with lots of maps and globes. Not to be confused with World of Maps in Ottawa, Ontario.

Map Publishers and Software Producers

Remember that many traditional publishers of paper maps now sell digital data and electronic atlases.

ADC (Alexandria Drafting Company): Makers of maps and atlases for cities along the U.S. east coast.
Bartholomew: This old cartographic company produces maps for various publishers (Times Books, etc.).
Berndtson & Berndtson: German publisher of fold-up road and street maps, and road atlases.
Delorme Mapping: Their publications include state atlases and several popular CD-ROM products.
Environmental Science Resources Institute (ESRI): Producers of the GIS software product ArcGIS, encompassing the components ArcView and ArcInfo.
Falk: German publisher famous for its ingeniously folded city plans of German, Swiss, and Austrian cities.
Guia Roji: Mexican publisher of street and highway maps and atlases, paper and electronic.
Hallwag: Swiss map publisher that publishes many fold-up road maps and city street maps for all over the world. Cartographic operations recently merged with those of Kümmerly-Frey, another Swiss map publisher.
Hema Maps: Australian map publisher specializing in maps of Australia and the Pacific region.
Historical Ink: Reproductions of maps and prints of towns in New England and several other U.S. states.
ITMB (International Travel Maps and Books): Maker of fold-up travel maps, especially known for their coverage of Latin American countries.
Kümmerly-Frey: Swiss map publisher that publishes many fold-up road maps and city street maps for all over the world. Cartographic operations recently merged with those of Hallwag, another Swiss map publisher.
Langenscheidt Publishing Group: Links to sites of the mapping companies that they own: American Map, ADC, Creative Sales, Arrow, Hagstrom, Hammond World Atlas, and Trakker. Most of these subsidiaries tend to specialize in maps or atlases for a specific region of the United States.
Map-Art: Canadian publisher of road/street maps, road atlases, and travel guides for Canada. Also distribute other brands.
MapInfo: Producers of the desktop mapping software, MapInfo. Also, information about data products in MapInfo format.
MAPSource: Publisher of detailed street atlases, wall maps and zip code maps, primarily in Florida, but also for counties or parishes in Louisiana, Georgia, and Mississippi.
MapTech: Sells digitized topographic maps and navigational charts on CD-ROM.
Mapsco: Publishes street finder atlases of some Texas cities.
Michelin: French publisher of famous travel maps and travel guides.
National Geographic: The magazine famous for its map inserts sells these and other maps separately (also available from many dealers).
Pierson Graphics / Maps Unlimited: Now the Rocky Mountain Region of Mapsco.
Philip's: British atlas producer that publishes titles under its own imprint as well as for other publishers (e.g., Oxford).
Rand McNally: This web site includes information on software, travel accessories, and a atlases, in addition to printed maps from them and other publishers.
Raven Maps & Images: Colored wall maps that emphasize physical features.
Thomas Bros. Maps: Publishes street finder atlases of western U.S. cities. Now owned by Rand McNally and expanding scope to east coast cities.
Trails Illustrated: Topographic recreational maps printed on plastic. Now owned by National Geographic.
Universal Map: Makers of city maps for U.S. cities.
