Please consult the main hours page for current open hours. After 6pm on weekdays all entrances to Perkins Library are open via card access only.

PLEASE NOTE: The Rubenstein Library has started a major renovation project that will continue through the summer of 2015. Researchers are advised to request materials at least four days before visiting.

Location

The Rubenstein Library Reading Room (PDF map to 3rd Floor Perkins Reading Room) is located on the 3rd floor of Perkins Library on West Campus. Our physical address is 411 Chapel Drive, Durham, NC 27708.

The driving directions below will guide you to the Bryan Center parking deck, which is the nearest public parking. If you have mobility  and access concerns, please contact us in advance of your visit. The printable campus map below shows our location in relation to nearby buildings.

Driving Directions

  • From Chapel Hill on NC 15-501
    Where 15-501 Bypass and 15-501 Business split, take the Bypass (exit right). From 15-501 Bypass, exit at NC 751 (Duke University West Campus) and turn right onto 751 (Cameron Boulevard). Go a little over half a mile, and turn left onto Science Drive. After the first traffic light (at Towerview Drive), take the second right into the Bryan Center parking lot. Parking is in the Bryan Center parking deck immediately on the right. After parking, follow walking directions on this printable map
  • From Raleigh on I-40 West
    From I-40, take the exit for Durham Freeway (NC 147 North). Take the Fulton Street/Hillandale Road exit and turn left onto Fulton Street. Continue on Fulton Street until it ends at Erwin Road. Turn right onto Erwin Road. At the third traffic light, turn left onto Towerview Road. At the first traffic light (second intersection), turn left onto Science Drive. Take the second right into the Bryan Center parking lot. Parking is in the Bryan Center parking deck immediately on the right. After parking, follow walking directions on this printable map
  • From Greensboro on I-40 West and I-85 North
    Take I-40/I-85 until I-40 and I-85 split; continue on I-85 North. Exit at Hillandale Road, and turn right. Hillandale Road turns into Fulton Street; continue on Fulton Street until it ends at Erwin Road (a little less than two miles from the I-85 exit). Turn right onto Erwin Road. At the third traffic light, turn left onto Towerview Road. At the first traffic light (second intersection), turn left onto Science Drive. Take the second right into the Bryan Center parking lot.   • From the North on I-85
    From I-85 South, exit at Hillandale Road, and turn left. Go approximately one mile, until Hillandale Road turns into Fulton Street. Continue on Fulton Street until it ends at Erwin Road. Turn right onto Erwin Road. At the third traffic light, turn left onto Towerview Road. At the first traffic light (second intersection), turn left onto Science Drive. Parking

Visitors to the Rubenstein Library are encouraged to use the Bryan Center parking deck (Parking Garage IV) or the Bryan Center visitors lot. The cost is $2 per hour. The metered visitor lot outside of the parking deck has a 2-hour time limit. After parking, follow walking directions on this printable map

During evenings and weekends, some additional free parking is available on West Campus. Limited parking is available on the streets and in selected parking lots that do not remain gated evenings and weekends. More information about Visitor Parking at Duke.
