Satirical film which points up the social consequences of the Soviet housing shortage. A husband and wife invite a friend to live with them and sleep on the sofa, but soon the husband winds up on the sofa. A landmark film because of humor, naturalism, and its sympathetic portrayal of the woman.

Includes 60 min. documentary, Louise Brooks looking for Lulu, directed by Hugh Munro Neely ; narrated by Shirley MacLaine which includes an interview with Brooks from 1976.
