<abstract encodinganalog="520">Collection (2000-0178) (33,750 items, 45 lin. ft.; dated 1965-2000 and undated) contains correspondence with other writers, friends, and relatives; manuscript and printed versions of works by Crowe and others; poetry notebooks; publicity materials; photographs; audio cassettes; New Native Press records; and other items. Other poets represented include Wendell Berry, Robert Bly, Lawrence Ferlinghetti, Allen Ginsberg, Joy Harjo, David Meltzer, Philip Daughtry, Neeli Cherkovski, Gary Snyder, Bobi Jones (Welsh), Jack Hirschman, Ken Wainio, Dianna Henning, John Lane, and Joe Napora. There is also material regarding San Francisco intellectual circles and the International Poetry Festival held there, as well as correspondence concerning activism regarding a wide range of political and social issues. There are also additions to the collection that include book manuscripts, correspondence, project files, and later work by Crowe. Please refer to the Collection Overview for more information. He is the founder of the New Native Press and Fern Hill Records, a record label devoted to poetry-music collaboration. Includes material related to the publication of <title render="italic">Automatic Antiquity</title> (Ken Wainio), <title render="italic">Shaking the Grass for Dew</title> (Richard Lewis), <title render="italic">In the Middle Woods</title> (Neeli Cherkovski), and <title render="italic">rEdlipstick</title> (Ted Pope). Also includes materials from various translations and anthologies, such as <title render="italic">10,000 Dawns</title>; <title render="italic">Drunk on the Wine of the Beloved</title>; and <title render="italic">The Baby Beat Generation</title>; as well as substantial editorial office and general correspondence. There are also articles, interviews, reviews, color and black-and-white photographs, audio cassettes and CDs, video cassettes, as well as CD-Rs and 3.5" computer diskettes.</p>

<p>Addition (2008-0288) (7875 items; 10.5 lin. ft.; 2005-2008) includes book manuscripts, project files, articles, publications, interviews, newspaper clippings, and correspondence. Materials cover both Crowe's work and his interaction with other poets and organizations. Books include <title render="italic">Why I am a Monster</title>, <title render="italic">Rare Birds</title>, <title render="italic">A House of Girls</title>, and <title render="italic">The End of Eden</title>. There are also several CDs, a 3.5" floppy disk, an audio cassette, and two DVDs.</p>

<p>Addition (2011-0001) (5550 items; 7.5 lin. ft.; 1987-2011) contains drafts and manuscripts from some of Crowe's books, including <title render="italic">Zoro's Field: My Life in the Appalachian Woods</title>, <title render="italic">Crack Light</title>, <title render="italic">Rare Birds</title>, <title render="italic">The Watcher</title>, and smaller amounts of materials from <title render="italic">A House of Girls</title>, <title render="italic">The End of Eden</title>, <title render="italic">Book of Rocks</title>, <title render="italic">The Brucciano Poems</title>, and others. Also includes published and unpublished poems, essays, articles, book reviews, and other writings, as well as correspondence, audio recordings from Thomas Rain Crowe and The Boatrockers, and fliers from Crowe's many activities. Another portion of the addition contains materials from Crowe's community and environmental activism in Tuckasegee, NC.

<p>Addition (2013-0032) (2700 items; 4.5 lin. ft.; 1978-2013) contains personal and professional correspondence including items relating to New Native Press and Tuckasegee, NC activism. Addition also includes copies and drafts of Crowe's manuscripts, miscellaneous publications and publicity materials, and New Native Press project drafts including broadsides.  Additionally there are audio and video recordings from Black Mountain College Museum and Arts Center events and one CD of photographs.</p>

<p>Addition (2013-0032) (2700 items; 4.5 lin. ft.; 1978-2013) contains personal and professional correspondence including items relating to New Native Press and Tuckasegee, NC activism. Addition also includes copies and drafts of Crowe's manuscripts, miscellaneous publications and publicity materials, and New Native Press project drafts including broadsides.  Additionally there are audio and video recordings from Black Mountain College Museum and Arts Center events and one CD of photographs.</p>
