<head>Collection Overview</head>

<p>The papers are those of R. Oscar Everett and his wife, Katherine (Robinson) Everett, prominent attorneys and civic leaders in Durham, N.C. The collection is comprised primarily of correspondence concerning the Durham-Orange County Historical Association, the Bennett Place Memorial Commission, the prohibition movement in N.C. after the repeal of the 18th Amendment, and the Durham County Bar Association. The collection also contains minutes and reports of the Durham-Orange County Historical Association; publications of the city of Durham; national defense material; an address delivered by Katherine Everett at a Methodist Board of Education Seminar at Duke University in 1948, entitled, <title render="doublequote">Idealism in the Political Process;</title> and other items of a varied nature.</p>
