<p>The purpose of Eta Sigma Phi is to further the spirit of cooperation and goodwill among members of classical departments, to stimulate interest in the study of the classics, and to increase one's knowledge of the art and literature of ancient Greece and Rome.  The Beta Rho Chapter was established at Duke around 1942.  </p>
