Contains graduate student discussion papers from the Institute of Statistical and Decision Sciences from 1987-2000. Papers are stapled, with a standard cover and title cutout. This collection does not include discussion papers that are available in full text through the I.S.D.S. website. Papers are catalogued individually in the University Archives. The ISDS supplied each paper with a DP number (i.e. 87-02, 96-04). This number is attached at the end of the call number. Since each paper is individually cataloged, only the ISDS-supplied numbers are used in the container list. Historical Note
The Institute of Statistical and Decision Sciences was established and operated as an academic center in 1986/87 and became one of eight natural science departments within Duke University's Trinity College of Arts and Sciences in 1991. The Institute offers undergraduate and graduate statistics courses, as well as statistical consulting for the College of Arts and Sciences and Environment and Earth Sciences. The Ph.D. program in I.S.D.S. was established in 1990, with particular emphasis on interdisciplinary research, Bayesian statistics and scientific computation.
