Abstract

The University Archives Poster Collection was compiled by University Archives staff from a variety of sources.

The collection consists of approximately 1,600 posters, event calendars, programs and flyers publicizing various campus events, including movies, lectures, musical and theatrical performances, art exhibitions, and festivals. Dates of the posters range from 1935 to the present, but a majority of the posters range from 1970-1989.

Collection Overview

The University Archives Poster Collection was compiled by University Archives staff from a variety of sources. The collection consists of approximately 1,600 posters, event calendars, programs and flyers publicizing various campus events, including movies, lectures, literary events, musical and theatrical performances (including Hoof 'N' Horn, Duke Players, and Duke Drama), concerts (including Duke ensemble groups and outside major attractions), art exhibitions, and festivals. Also included are basketball (men's and women's) team posters. Dates of the posters range from 1935 to the present, but a majority of the posters ranges from 1970-1989.

Administrative Information

A majority of collections are stored off site and must be requested at least 48 business hours in advance for retrieval. Contact Rubenstein Library staff before visiting. Read More »
