Mazzoni was very involved in pedagogical concerns both through his activities in the Senate and in various teacher organizations, thus the material in this sub-collection is extensive. Of importance is the very large group of annual school reports from Italian licei which were kept by Mazzoni for their occasional articles (the author's name is cross-referenced in the "Other Names" field), but which also are valuable for their detailed reports on curricula, staffing, and the student bodies. There are also a number of pamphlets on the education of women, including one with a New Zealand imprint. Also of interest are literature and grammar textbooks for use in middle schools, and the pamphlets outlining the early Fascist regime's efforts in education and in the fight against illiteracy.
Individuals represented are Guido Mazzoni, Guido Baccelli, Giovanni Calo`, Pio Rajna, Francesco de Sanctis, Annie Besant, Benedetto Croce, Giuseppe Pitre`, Luigi Rava, Paolo Boselli, Ugo Foscolo, and Maria Montessori (S).
Not included in this grouping are pamphlets that concern Dante studies in the schools; any such item would be found under the "Dante" heading. But any other textbook or manual designated specifically for school use will be found not under its subject, but under "Education."
