Thanks to generous funding from GlaxoSmithKlein, the John Hope Franklin Research Center for African and African American History and Culture offers annual travel grants, on a competitive basis.
Travel grants are also available from the Sallie Bingham Center for Women's History and Culture, John W. Hartman Center for Sales, Advertising, and Marketing History and History of Medicine Collections. Please see the main travel grant page for more information.
Any faculty, graduate or undergraduate student, or independent scholar with a research project requiring the use of materials held by the John Hope Franklin Research Center is eligible to apply. All applicants must reside outside of a 100-mile radius from Durham, NC. The maximum award per applicant is $1,000.
Grant money may be used for
