The Human Rights Archive has completed tranferring the records of the Common Sense Foundation (CSF) to RBMSCL. CSF, based in Durham, NC operated between 1994 and 2010. Named for the most famous work of Thomas Paine, one of America's earliest progressives, CSF was "guided by a belief in equality and justice for all people regardless of race, religious affiliation, sexual orientation, or economic status." Common Sense was a center for the progressive movement in North Carolina and its activities included:
o Publishing special research reports on important issues and trends in North Carolina.
o Helping grassroots groups by providing media consulting and advice on how best to reach state policy-makers.
o Serving as a resource for statewide media to balance the conservative viewpoint on key issues.
o Publishing "Common Sense Says...", a quarterly research report that focuses on a different topic each quarter
The common Sense Foundation collection includes research files, board files, the CSF website, as well as its legacy eletronic records. The collection will be processed in Fall of 2010 and shold be open for research, with some restrictions, by Spring of 2011.

The Human Rights Archive has signed an agreement with the Florida Immigrant Advoacy Center (FIAC) to serve as the repository for the records of this important organization. Founded in 1996, FIAC, based in Miami, FL, is "a not-for-profit legal assistance organization dedicated to protecting and promoting the basic human rights of immigrants of all nationalities." FIAC has done important work in Florida, at Krome Detention Center and in Guantanamo
