Synopsis

Harry Wilder, "The Soldier," is in love with Edna Griffin the wealthy young heiress.  The wealthy Mrs. Gwinn, grandmother of Edna, seriously objects to Edna's correspence with Harry due to the fact that he is a soldier, and not Edna's equal in wealth.  Still their love is firm and unmovable. Now Harry has enlisted, and is soon to go away for three years.  He proposes to Edna, and plans a romantic marriage.  They take an afternoon outing in company with their two chums, Jennie Dean and Billy Smith.  They meet at the home of Rev. Glace, where they are married.  Edna returns to her home only in company with her chum, Jennie.  The news reaches Mrs. Gwin through a letter from Edna. Harry is called to the home of Mrs. Gwin, questioned, advised, forgiven and made welcome in the home.  The marriage is kept a secret, until Harry's return after three years.  Then the secret is disclosed, followed by a grand reception with a few friends at the home of Mrs. Gwin.
