Material: 1 item : papyrus, mounted in glass ; 12 x 29 cm. Note: Actual dimensions of item are 11.4 x 28.4 cm. 13 lines. Written across the fibers on the recto; written along the fibers on the verso; the postscript inverse to the text on the recto and the address. Upper margin of 1.5 cm.; lower margin of 0.5 cm.; small left margin; right margin of 0.5 cm. P.Duk.inv. 474 was formerly P.Miss. 40. Papyrus private letter from Egypt in which Abraham asks an abbot of a monastery with "Apa" in his name about his health and about food. Farewell reads, "May I prosper through your holy prayers."
