Letter to Locke Verna was a staunch supporter of her husbands's work and wrote several articles that appeared in several music journals. She also wrote an extensive article for Carl Van Vechten on interracial marriage. Van Vechten appreciated her work and stated that interracial marriage could be a solution to the race problem in America.
