From a personal knowledge derived from service in East Tennessee during the
years 1864-5 I can truthfully state that the above statement of services
is very mildly put. The value of Mrs Thompsons services to the cause of
the
Union was not exceeded by those of any of the gallant soldiers with whom
I served during the years named Justice appears to demand a recognition by
some of the Departments in accordance with her physical strength and sufficient
for her support
