Phan -- dropping out of DARII -- too much to do.  Donna spoke for Phan

Bayou Landing -- Sally seeing lawyer to find out trial date

Sally -- saw Evelyn Reed at Militant Forum.  

S. Like us to go to events together. E.R. -- martriarchal theory & social evolution   Phone tree

Margo -- Vietnamese Victory Celebration    workshops on Socialist Feminism DARII

meet at Margo's house 2 weeks

Margo -- unemployed carpenter's app., UI

Jane -- unemployed, formerly pet shops, photo-engrave, bus tables, painting

Micki -- State of Ga. Dept, Revenue Cerk II check tax forms

Pici -- unemployed; looking 1st class radio license; before phone co.; worked making TV's  pd lower than men quit $2.10

Donna -- wiring technician trainee; previously clerk 7-11 store

Sarah -- certify people for food stamps De Kalf Co.

Sally -- adult ed. for school board; reading Voc. Rehab. young women get GED & afternoon reading & math alcoholism center since Sep.

Linda -- private eye & foot hospital; charge nurse day shift, infection control & audit charts.  prefers small hospital

Jeanne -- Southside Dayeare Center funded through June '76  Emergency job program  Take care 2 1/2 - 5 yr. olds.  Learning black culture -- co-workers & kids.

Questions -- Why we work where we do?  Career?  Political Analysis?

Sally -- changing reasons & we should provide some background

Linda -- NURSE -- load varies that's why at hospital.  Nursing is career some doubts.  Lay-offs  Take risks for political beliefs -- economics, racism.  Doing this makes job worthwhile.  Likes being supervisor over others; tries to be fair, get criticism & input.  Supervise LPN's & aides, 2 nurses sometimes.  Feedback from house & friends about work.

Sally -- TEACHER -- Back to teaching some misgivings  Like Adult Ed.  Morning reading skills -- mainly young black people getting GED.  Maj. Women  No supervision morning; one of best things about adult ed.  Afternoon: Alcoholism Center -- lead educational discussion groups -- jobs; places to live, communications dealing with drink outside, talk about psychological theory.  Many gay groups come to hospital;  Pointed out that she was gay to counselors, made herself available to talk about it.  Careful to not lose job/ balanced with feelings about being gay/ impt. to keep job support kids.  Alcoholics go thru bullshit- therapy  Weird -- S being young & not alcoholic, female working with older men alcoholics.  Got job thru connections -- way to buy off dissidents  Impt to start gay AA  Job very important & interesting.

Martha -- Installs Switching Machines for phone co.  Work all men, dislikes it, most of them about 30 odd yrs.  white suburbanites.  Not a career.  Been there 2 yrs.  Got job mistake.  Despise working with men in groups -- sexist, racist.  Co-workers know lesbian.  Not getting up at 6 AM & not working 40 hrs. week.  likes electronic work.  communications good political place to be.

Margo

Jane -- looking work; framing & painting

Criticism --

Micki -- format not a give & take; not what we planned

Donna -- more feasible to go individually; issues clarify & interchange later

Micki -- Sum up issues: Male-type jobs preferred, but you are forced to be around men

Donna -- Professionalism vs. ideas of working class   Professionalism & Marxism   Need for income

Martha -- Advantages of professionalism vs. working class job -- strict regulations for working class.

Micki -- Prof. job.  Authority figure -- Sally & Linda

Martha -- Impt to live like average person to understand where they're coming from.  Not work 40 hr. week & remain sane.  Maintane [sic] life & personal activities

Sally -- Working gives something, creative.  Economic need.  Pick up on this topic next week live like other people
