Long-term -- still thinks of self as teach. -- might change as gets into this job. Taught high school for 2 yrs -- in some HS she went to -- knew lots of the kids -- bro. & sis. were in the school. turned out well. Relat. w/ other teachers -- had it pretty easy w/ what she wanted to do -- argued w/ ass. principal over methods, dress etc., but principal was on her side -- felt almost like "token disupter." Felt secure for self, not what teacher can do in public school. seemed like atypical sit -- got away w/ more than most teachers can and do. direct annimosity [sic] only w/ 1 male teach -- football coach. Some conflicts w/ others -- Some messed up by fact that kids called her by 1st name. School had been integrated for some time. taught some black kids. Thinks could deal w/ atl. public school grps. -- but knows it burns her out after about 2 yrs. wants to teach in Jr. college more in that that's not so draining -- but thinks its more impt. to teach HS. age group doesn't matter has taught 8, 9, 12 grade & adult ed. Politics changed during time she taught -- in latter stages tried to incorporate ideas of class, etc. Wants to go back to teaching bec. of interchange w/ students -- very rewarding but also draining -- got out for a while to avoid tendency to go stale, fall back on old notes, tests, etc.
Peachy -- unemployed for 3 weeks -- most sig. job in past year was w/ S.
Bell -- worked mainly w/ black women -- most of the white people from working
class background. Learned a lot about class, black people. Then

fixing to take switchman test & came to P for help w/ grammer [sic] --
didn't exactly know why -- thought maybe class was showing [?]. Things
got better after they began to figure out where she was coming from. Got
laid-off. Got job driving rich kids to school. Then got electronics

Sarah -- hates job, creates conflicts with politics -- physical, mental, etc... Learning thing [?] about myself. Why am I doing this. Woman came in who was in bad shape but I hated her. When she was ineligible I was relieved. Didn't have to see her. I represent the system to them -- thake it out on me. To the Co. -- I'm a softee etc. -- get shit on from the the Co. In a double bind -- tend to take it out on the client. (Did cabinet work before and liked it -- hated the people -- creative. This job hate the work -- like the people.) Supervisor wants me to appear in the power position to intimidate them. Dress nice to make yourself better than clients. Prying into people's lives. Different pressures on prying pertaining to the class of people. Going back to college for more degrees in Philosophy.
