To borrow items, bring the items you wish to check out to the Circulation Desk in Perkins or the Help Desk in Bostock, along with your Duke ID or your library card.  A staff member will check your book out for you, or you may use one of our three self check-out machines.  One is located on the side of the Perkins Circulation Desk across from the photocopiers, one near the Perkins gateway exit, and a third just inside the lobby in Bostock Library.

Using the Self-Checkout Machines

Library Cards If you do not have one, please come to the Circulation Desk in Perkins Library and a staff member will assist you. 

• Laptops may be borrowed by Duke faculty, staff and students. You must present a valid Duke ID to staff at the Perkins Library or Lilly Library circulation desks to check out a laptop. Laptops are loaned out for 24 hours only, with no renewals and are first come-first served; they cannot be held for an individual patron.
• Perkins Library now has several titles in the devilDVD Collection.  These DVDs may be borrowed for 3 days by Duke graduate and undergraduate students only.
• The library no longer has headphones or calculators for borrowing.  The OIT Help Desk in the Link has headphones that can be loaned out to the Duke community.  See them on the lower level of Perkins Library for assistance.
