Item Not on Shelf

If you do not find an item in the stacks or in the sorting area, ask at the Circulation Desk. The staff there can investigate whether the book is on reserve, checked out, missing, being repaired, etc. If the Circulation staff have no information indicating an alternate location for the item, you may submit a search request. Staff members will make three thorough searches for the book.

You will be notified of the book's status after the first search. Items requested by Duke faculty, staff and graduate students which can't be found will instead be obtained through Interlibrary Loan from another library.
