Items Not on the Shelf
If you cannot find a book in the stacks:
- Ask at the Circulation Desk. The staff there can investigate whether the book is on reserve, checked out, missing, being repaired, etc.
- Submit a search request. If the Circulation staff have no information indicating an alternate location for the item, you may use the online search request form to submit a request.
Staff members will make three thorough searches for the book.
You will be notified of the book's status after the first search.
You may use your interlibrary loan account to request from another institution books that are missing from Duke's collection. Information on setting up an Document Delivery account and requesting materials may be found at http://library.duke.edu/libraries/document-delivery.html.
