Interlibrary Loan and Document Delivery Services
Interlibrary Loan and Document Delivery Services (ILL/DDS) supports scholarly research by obtaining library material unavailable in the Duke Library System. Duke faculty, students, and staff are eligible for ILL/DDS services. NOTE: Law, Medical and Fuqua Business affiliates must request ILL services from their respective libraries.
As a service to Duke students, faculty, and staff, ILL/DDS borrows materials not available in the Duke Libraries. This includes materials not owned by the Duke Libraries as well as items that are checked out, lost, or missing. Books, periodical articles, dissertations, microforms, government documents and technical reports are just some of the types of material obtained through interlibrary loan. We maintain cooperative agreements with other libraries and document delivery vendors worldwide. ILL/DDS also provides materials owned by the Perkins System Libraries to other libraries worldwide.
Book/Article Retrieval and Delivery (BARD)
BARD offers select retrieval of books and articles from the stacks for faculty and graduate students to be delivered to the library location of their choice.
Document Delivery
ILL/DDS delivers journal articles from the Duke Libraries collection as well as library collections worldwide. These are scanned and typically posted to the web for retrieval.
