Connotea is an online reference management tool, similar to "social bookmarking" services like del.icio.us, but designed for academics.
With Connotea you can:
- Save, organize, share, and discover references to research citations and anything addressable by a URL
- Store and organize bookmarks and journal citations in a way that can easily be exported to EndNote and other bibliographic management tools
- Find people at Duke and elsewhere who share your research interests, and see the citations they have collected. You can use Connotea to collaborate with colleagues from around the world
Features
- Connotea works with three easy steps:
- Find a reference
- Save it to Connotea with one click
- Add your own keyword tags to help you find it later
- Connotea will add the bibliographic information for you (when possible)
- Your references can be public, private, or shared with a selected group of colleagues
- Import references from other reference management systems
- Export some or all of your references from Connotea to other systems
- Access Connotea from any computer with an Internet connection
- Learn more about the benefits of using Connotea
Connotea @ Duke
Connotea is a free service provided by the Nature Publishing Group, and is not affiliated with or supported by Duke University. This means that your Duke NetID and password will not work with Connotea, and you will need to set up an account in the Connotea system and be aware of their policies.
While Duke Libraries is not able to provide technical support for the system, we can help members of the Duke community to learn more about and make effective use of the Connotea system. If you have questions, Ask a Librarian!
"Get it @ Duke" in Connotea
You can configure Connotea to take advantage of the Get it @ Duke service provided by Duke University Libraries. Here's how to set it up:
http://sfx.lib.duke.edu:9003/sfx_local
- In the field called Label Links As..., enter
Get it @ Duke
- Click on the Update button, and you're done! Now, when Connotea detects an OpenURL (a kind of identifier that points to a Duke-specific link-resolver) it will show a "Get it @ Duke" link that should get you to journal articles and other resources Duke subscribes to in fewer clicks. Try it out!
