EndNote is powerful reference management software designed to keep track of citations and format bibliographies.  EndNote helps you import references into a document as you write it and then format your paper according to thousands of styles, including Turabian, MLA, APA, and Chicago 15th. 

Get EndNote from Duke OIT (free for Duke users) 

Get EndNote Support -- see tip sheets, FAQ, import filters, connection files, mailing list

    Export citations from databases or catalogs into EndNote (see tip sheet)
    • Search article databases or library catalogs in their interfaces, and then download citations into Endnote
    • Use "export to citation manager" feature from the database, or use a filter
    • Download Duke catalog filter (zipped file)

    Use EndNote connection files to search databases from within EndNote (see tip sheet)

    • Useful for simple searches only (for advanced searching, use the database interface)
    • Current versions of EndNote come with the Duke catalog connection file

    Use EndNote with Get it @ Duke 

    • Click "Export to EndNote" in the "Get it @ Duke" box to add the citation to your EndNote library
    • Works well for database records but not for Duke catalog records

    "Cite While You Write" and make bibliographies (see tip sheet)

    • Use EndNote to add citations to your Word document as you compose it
