RefWorks for alumni

Every Duke graduate is entitled to one free RefWorks account.  Simply log in to the Duke Alumni Directory, select Library Databases and then click on Instructions for creating an alumni account beside the RefWorks icon.

Want to move your current account into your new alumni account?  First, back up your current account:

  • Log in to your current RefWorks account
  • From either the Tools or the References menu, select Backup/Restore
  • By default, References, RSS Feeds and Custom Output Styles are selected for backup.  If you do not wish to include your references, RSS feeds, or custom output styles, deselect the appropriate option.
  • Click on Perform Backup
  • Save the file when prompted.  If you are not prompted to save the file, select Click here to save your backup file.
  • Your file will be saved as a .zip or .rwb file.  Do not change the extension of the file.

Now, move your backed up account into your new alumni account

  • Log in to your new RefWorks alumni account
  • From either the Tools or the References menu, select Backup/Restore
  • Select the Restore option
  • Browse for the appropriate backup file
  • Select Include References, Include RSS Feeds and Include Output Styles, as desired
  • Click on Perform Restore
