How to Find Music

Conduct an Advanced Search of the Duke Catalog

  • Under "Limit search to" on the right, select from the "Format" dropdown menu
    • Audio Music (for CDs, LPs, cassettes)
    • Printed Music (for scores or sheet music)
    • Film/Video (for DVD, VHS, LaserDiscs)
    • Journal/Serial (for journal or serial titles)
    • Etc.

NOTE:: The Format - Microform option currently does not work. If you truly want to limit your search to microforms, do a keyword search and include the term "microforms"

  • Under "Limit search to" on the right, from the "Location" dropdown menu select "Music" (This can be especially helpful if you are searching for videos and don't want results from Lilly Library.)

  • You can also limit by location by going to the "Duke Libraries" tab along the top of the page and selecting "Music." You will then choose again to do a basic or advanced search. NOTE: Once you choose the "Music" tab, all searches you conduct will be limited to the Music Library until you choose another library or move to the "Full Catalog" tab.
