Satirical film which points up the social consequences of the Soviet housing shortage. A husband and wife invite a friend to live with them and sleep on the sofa, but soon the husband winds up on the sofa. A landmark film because of humor, naturalism, and its sympathetic portrayal of the woman.

Louise Brooks plays Lulu, an effervescent chorus girl who destroys everyone she comes in contact with before she is murdered by Jack the Ripper. Includes 60 min. documentary, Louise Brooks looking for Lulu, directed by Hugh Munro Neely ; narrated by Shirley MacLaine which includes an interview with Brooks from 1976.

Lillian Gish is a young woman in love who believing her loved one (Coleman) has been killed becomes a nun. When her lover returns she stays faithful to the church.
