Although there is advertising materials scattered through other collections, the focus of collecting in this area is in the
John Hartman Center for Sales, Advertising, and Marketing History. Strengths include records of advertising agencies, including the J. Walter Thompson Company, D'Arcy Masius Benton & Bowles, and others; records of trade associations such as the Outdoor Advertising Association of America; personal papers of industry executives; and collections of print advertising images.

Many of the various collections in this area are described in searchable
finding aids. Printed and other holdings can be similarly searched in the
