Other Primary Sources

In addition to the original materials housed in the Rare Book, Manuscript, and Special Collections Library, members of the Duke community have access to complementary primary material in other formats.

Full-text Subscription Databases

The Duke University Libraries subscribe to databases that provide digital surrogates of newspapers, periodicals, books, and manuscript material. From the library home page, link to Articles & Databases. Select Find Database and Advanced. Use the pull-down Select Type menu to select Primary Sources. There are currently 61 databases covering a wide range of subjects including alternative, radical and left publications; letters and diaries from the American Civil War; British and Irish Women’s Diaries and Letters; and historical newspapers. Please consult a reference librarian if you need additional help identifying or using these databases.

Microfilm Collections
