A black-and-white photocopier is available in the research room for readers' use in copying materials from manuscript collections. All copying must be approved by staff, who will provide instruction. As a rule, bound and fragile materials may not be copied. Some collections are subject to donor-imposed restrictions on reproduction.
Copies are ten cents per page. Please bring a supply of change, since the copier will change only $1 bills and we do not keep change at the desk. Photocopy cards may be purchased in the main lobby of Bostock Library or in the Duke Card Office, 100 West Union Building, for increments of $5.00. Copies made with a photocopy card rather than cash cost only seven cents apiece.
Researchers may bring digital or other cameras into the reading room. A lighted camera stand is available.
Researchers may bring portable flat-bed scanners for copying unbound materials, subject to staff approval. Devices that roll across or that might damage the documents in any way may not be used.
