Did you know you can make a gift to the Libraries and have your contribution honored by the naming of a study carrel in Perkins or Bostock Library? Study carrels are assigned to undergraduate students working on an honors thesis and graduate students completing their thesis or dissertation. There are 198 of these highly coveted spots in the Libraries available on a first-come, first-served basis. Study carrels are so popular the waiting list is often more than 200 names long!
These private rooms were requested by students who took part in focus groups on the Perkins Library renovation and the Bostock Library addition. When a student is granted a carrel for the year, they receive a key to the room, which allows them to secure the space and its contents.
When you support the Perkins Project with a gift of $5,000, you help the Libraries continue to meet a critical need for today’s busy students—a private, quiet, attractive study space. In order to support the campaign, you can make an outright gift or a pledge payable over five years. This giving form (pdf) is all you need. To recognize your gift, a special plaque will be placed outside the room. Our online gift form even allows you to include your desired plaque wording.
