Opportunity in my career
The Duke University Libraries have given me the opportunity to pursue my interest in archives, rare materials, and special collections, first as an archivist, and now as coordinator of the Libraries’ Digital Collections Program. I’ve had the opportunity to learn and grow in my career, to be mentored by librarians who are leaders in the field, and to work with world-class collections. The Duke Libraries also gave me the opportunity to live in Durham, a great community with lots of character and a place I’m proud to call home.
Opportunity to transform research for students and scholars at Duke and around the world
The Duke Libraries are creating unique digital collections that pursue the themes of advertising & consumer culture; documentary photography and film; Duke University history; and transcultural experiences. The rich content of the collections supports interdisciplinary research, visual studies, and global engagement.
To date, nearly 40,000 items from our most distinctive collections have been digitized and made available on the Web to anyone with an Internet connection, on campus or on the other side of the globe. Transforming these resources into highly-accessible digital collections has put them, virtually, in the hands of hundreds of thousands of users while maintaining the physical integrity of the original materials.
