University Archives

The Duke University Archives is the official repository for records of Duke University, and the gateway to its past. The role of the Archives is to identify, acquire, manage, and preserve university records of enduring value and make them available for use in accordance with policies approved by the Board of Trustees, the administration, and the faculty.

News

Publications from the Archives are being digitized. Selected issues from two are now available via The Internet Archive:

  1. The Chanticleer (the yearbook), 1912 to 1960.
  2. Historical Papers of The Trinity College Historical Society, 1897-1923.  The goals of the Society were to collect and preserve material illustrative of the history of North Carolina and the South, and to promote the study of that history through lectures and publications.
Renovations to the Library require that we store many of our collections offsite. To ensure that records you want to use will be available, please contact us before you visit.
