Built in 1937

Herbert J. HerringOne of the last houses built for Duke faculty, this brick structure was first occupied by Herbert J. Herring (left), Dean of Trinity College.  He lived here until his retirement in 1964. The Educational Improvement Program worked from here from around 1966 until 1970. By 1971, several offices were based here, including the Department of Public Safety and University Transportation Services. Public Safety moved into its present Oregon Street location in 1995.  University Transportation Services remained until 2004.  That year, its current occupant, the Arts & Sciences Development Office, moved in.
