Paula has been on staff with the David M. Rubenstein Rare Book & Manuscript Library (RL) since 1992.  As the Visual Materials Processing Archivist in the RL Technical Services Department, she is responsible for the arrangement and online description of photographic portfolios and archives acquired by the library.  These include documentary photography collections in the Archive of Documentary Arts as well as other image collections in the Rubenstein Library's holdings, representing the work of photographers and artists based in the United States, England, China, India, and Japan, and other locales.  Many have been published as part of the Duke Digital Collections Repository.  With the support of graduate interns and student assistants, Paula dedicates her work to making these collections accessible to onsite and remote users.

Prior to coming to the Rubenstein Library, Paula earned a Master's in Literature from Duke, a BA with honors in Comparative Literature at the University of California at Santa Cruz (go Banana Slugs!), and an Masters in Library Science, summa cum laude, at North Carolina Central University.  She is active in the Society of American Archivists, serving as Chair of the SAA Visual Materials section in 2015-2016; she is also a member of the Society of NC Archivists and the NC Literary and Historical Association.
