Pleas against class legislation

One-sided circular letter, circa 1885, written by Rev. A.E.P. Albert, D.D. and addressed to "Mr. Speaker and Gentlemen of the House of Representatives of the State of Louisiana." Albert writes on behalf of the American Citizens' Equal Rights Association whose sole mission is to "support the moral, intellectual and material welfare of all classes of American citizens, and to advocate their equal rights as guaranteed them by the Constitution and laws of the United States and of the State of Louisiana." He specifically asks that legislatures not pass class legislation which would infringe upon the rights of all citizens of the state.
