Spain in the late 1930s, once a global superpower, was engulfed in a civil war that would serve as a direct and brutal prelude to World War II. The conflict not only reshaped the Iberian nation but reverberated the world over as a battle cry against tyranny. ¡Por la Libertad! The 90th Anniversary of the Spanish Civil War explores the conflict that transfixed the world from 1936 to 1939 through images, art, literature, and archival materials held in the collections of Duke University Libraries.
