	mounted in glass, incomplete ; 11 cm.
Note: Actual dimensions of item are 10.6 x 23.1 cm.
	14 lines.
	Written along the fibers on the verso, the marginal
	additions across the fibers. Written along the fibers
	on the recto in Ammon's informal hand and inverse
	to the main text on the verso.
	Upper margin of 2 cm.; lower margin of 1 cm.; left
	margin of 1.5 cm.; right margin of 3 cm.
	P.Duk.inv. 217 V was formerly P.Duk.inv. G 217 V.
	Draft of a petition from Panopolis (modern name Akhmim),
	Egypt, written on papyrus. Written by Ammon, the
	well-known scholastikos, or lawyer. Ammon protests
	against abuse by an official, possibly Eugeneios,
	an imperial secretary. Papyrus belongs to the archive
	of Ammon. Recto has a draft of a petition to the
	katholikos in Greek (P.Duk.inv. 217 R).
	P.Duk.inv. 217 V joins P.Köln inv. 4547, which has
	been on indefinite loan to Duke University since 1986.
