Material: 1 item : papyrus, eleven joining fragments mounted in glass, incomplete ; 27 x 7 cm. Note: Actual dimensions of item are 27.0 x 6.6 cm. 27 lines. Written along the fibers on the recto with an Egyptian brush; written along the fibers on the verso, the docket on the left edge, inverse to the address and in a different hand. Lower margin of 1 cm.; small right margin. Extracted from mummy cartonnage. P.Duk.inv. 23 was formerly P.Duk.inv. G 23. Letter from Egypt, written on papyrus. Written to Nesiotes with a request to come to the writer. Someone with "kletos" in his name apparently presented the letter to Nesiotes. The greeting reads, "Be of good health." Dated to year 29, Phamenoth 22 (May 15, 256 B.C.). An appended note mentions Harmais. The docket bears the same date. In Greek. Descriptive database available in repository.
