	Written along the fibers on the recto in a careful
	hand; traces of ink on the  verso.
	Upper margin of 1.5 cm.
	P.Duk.inv. 879 was formerly P.Duk.inv. S73 1.
	Petition from Lycopolis, Egypt, written on papyrus.
	The petition is directed to the governor of Egypt
	(praefectus Aegypti) by Aurelios Hierax son of Besas
	and grandson of Hierakion who belongs to the settlers
	in Lycopolis. The scribe of the council had appointed
	Hierax to become the guardian of a minor even though
	Hierax had already performed the heaviest civil services.
	Hierax now claims poverty as an excuse.
