Historical Note

Will Inman was a poet, essayist, columnist, editor, and an activist for civil rights, peace in Vietnam, and communism. He was born William Archibald McGirt, Jr. He was a native of Wilmington, N.C., a 1943 Duke University graduate, and lived in Tucson, Arizona for much of his later life. He died October 3, 2009.
