Historical Note

Lee Clark Johns is a corporate communications professional specializing in business and technical writing. She founded and ran her company, Strategic Communications, for over 30 years. A native of Tulsa, OK, Johns graduated from Duke University with a degree in English. After an early teaching career, she began a career in corporate communications consulting. Her seminars focused on professional writing and presentation skills. Her clients included many national corporations. Johns is also known as the author of the award-winning book "The Writing Coach" (2004). Her article, "The Filing Cabinet Has a Sex Life: Insights of a Professional Writing Consultant" has been widely reprinted. Johns has also served her local community, helping to establish The John Hope Franklin Center for Reconciliation, which addresses race relations in Tulsa. She was also a founding member of Concerned Oklahomans for Reform of Education, a group that helped pass a state education reform bill.
