Collection contains a letter from Samuel Simons to an unnamed recipient describing the recent election which he narrowly won against a Whig candidate, "They have spent their money and circulated their infamory falsehoods, coffin handbills & [et]c & [et]c but the secret is they all came out, & so did we. They made 50 difference here on the Temperance subject."
