On May 30, 1934, Guido Mazzoni delivered his last class lecture at the University of Florence. He was 75 when he retired from a distinguished 50-year career in teaching literature. This photo and article commemorating his retirement appears in a Fascist newspaper published in the Republic of San Marino, which earlier had bestowed on Mazzoni an honorary citizenship for his heroism in World War I.
