The earliest imprint in Mazzoni's Dante-related materials is 1797, but the great bulk of the pamphlets was published in the 19th century, and reflects the very rich history of Dante studies in Italy. Practically every Dantist in Italy is represented, both the well-known and the nameless. The author of these essays on history, philosophy, and Dante's writings is only known to us as "O.D.C." The pamphlet was published in Florence in 1838, and concludes with 100 poetic verses to Dante commemorating a new memorial to Dante in Santa Croce.
